Minos X. Kyriakou – Founder

Minos X. Kyriakou comes from a family known for its shipping activities since the middle of the nineteenth century, when Kyriakou Shipping and Trading Ltd. was first established.

He launched Athenian Holdings, a global oil shipping business that owns a modern fleet of VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers).

In 1988, Mr. Kyriakou first ventured into the world of media by founding one of the first private radio stations in Greece followed by Antenna TV (Ant1), one of the first private TV channels in Greece. This was the genesis of Antenna Group, of which he later became Chairman.

Mr. Kyriakou was the Chairman of “The Aegean Foundation”, a non-profit organization whose activities concern the study and promotion of issues regarding the broader Mediterranean area.

Mr. Kyriakou was also the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Greece as well as Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Greece.

He has served as Chairman of the Greek National Olympic Committee and President of the International Olympic Academy.

Mr. Kyriakou passed away in July 2017.

Theodore Kyriakou – CEO

Theodore Kyriakou is a ship owner and a shareholder of a global oil shipping business that can trace its history back over 150 years and has been owned by the Kyriakou family throughout. Further, he is a principal shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of Antenna Group.

Mr. Kyriakou also set up and oversees an investment team that manages the financial assets of the Kyriakou family. He holds degrees in International Business and in Physics from Georgetown University, where he graduated cum laude and was awarded the Treado medal for Physics.

Mr. Kyriakou is a member of the Advisory Board of Cambridge University’s Centre for International Business & Management (CIBAM) and a Board Member of Endeavor Greece, a global non-profit organization supported by international business leaders. He sits on the Board of Raine Group, the New York based global merchant bank focused on technology, media and telecommunications.  Raine Group manages Raine Partners and Raine Venture Partners, private equity funds focused on entertainment, digital media and sports, where Antenna Group is a cornerstone investor.

Advisory Board

Nikolaos Angelopoulos

Nikolaos Angelopoulos is the CFO of Antenna Group.

He is also Executive Director and member of the Advisory Board of Antenna Group. He has served as Group Chief Financial Officer at Antenna TV SA from 1996 to 2008 and has over 30 years of experience in the business and finance sectors. Before joining Antenna Group, he was Financial Director of Olympic Airways S.A., Group Treasurer, Management Controls and Planning Manager of British Petroleum Ltd. in Greece and an economist with Société d’ Etudes et Développement Economique et Social S.A. in Paris. He holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Paris I – Sorbonne.

Antero Baldaia

Antero Baldaia is head of the Family Office of the Kyriakou Family and member of the Advisory Board of Antenna Group.

Prior to this, Mr. Baldaia was Chief Investment Officer at Amorim Holding, the parent holding company of the Américo Amorim group, between September 2007 and September 2010. During his tenure at Amorim, Mr. Baldaia was member of the Board of Directors of Banco BIC, Angola’s leading retail bank, and of Tom Ford International.

Before joining Amorim Holding, Mr. Baldaia was Director of Bank Equity at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), managing and developing EBRD’s €2.7 billion portfolio of direct equity investments in banks across Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. While at EBRD, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of several financial institutions.

Mr. Baldaia holds a degree in Economics from Porto University and an MBA from INSEAD. He also worked for Arthur Andersen and Banco Espírito Santo in Portugal.

Darren Childs

Darren Childs is a member of the Advisory Board of Antenna Group.

Mr Childs is the CEO of UKTV - a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and Scripps Networks Interactive, which he joined in 2010. His achievements at the network include the positioning of UKTV as the UK’s fastest growing commercial television network of 2012; committing to investment of over £100m a year in content; launching five new HD channels; creating the number one programme in Pay TV with Dynamo: Magician Impossible and running the UK’s number one channels in both the Lifestyle and Factual genres. Mr Childs is also at the forefront of UKTV’s Video On Demand (VOD) strategy. UKTV’s channels were the first to join BT Vision’s television service, and are now a part of TalkTalk on YouView.

Before starting at UKTV, Mr Childs was Managing Director of BBC Worldwide Global Channels, where he was responsible for growing and managing the BBC’s extensive channels business, both domestically and internationally, as well as advertising sales across this portfolio and digital media. Under his four year leadership, BBC Worldwide Channels achieved dramatic expansion and enjoyed its most successful year in 2009/2010, with record sales and profits. During this time, he was a member of BBC Worldwide’s Board and Executive Committee Team, and also sat on the UKTV Board.

Prior to BBC Worldwide, Mr Childs was Senior Vice President, International Networks for Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI), EMEA. Before that, he spent several years in Asia, first as Director of Programming for MTV Asia and then as Director of Business Development at Channel V (part of the STAR TV platform). He has also sat on the non-executive board for HBO Europe. His television career began as Head of Programming for BSkyB’s The Power Stat

Bhavneet Singh

Bhavneet Singh is a member of the Advisory Board of Antenna Group.

Bhavneet Singh (Bhav) is founder of Sandbox & Co Ltd and has over 15 years deep experience scaling up businesses within large corporates in media, sports, entertainment, & now learning. Prior to Sandbox, Bhav was President & CEO of Pearson English & Informal Learning at Pearson Plc. - the world’s largest education company.  During Bhav’s time at Pearson, he transformed the English business into a cohesive portfolio across Retail, Institutional, Corporate (a Saas Business) & Digital to Consumer. Bhav added to the existing portfolio by acquiring GlobalEnglish, Grupo Multi & IOKI, all of which were then integrated under one brand, Pearson English.

Prior, Bhav spent 8 years at Viacom International Media Networks, as Managing Director & Executive Vice President, Emerging Markets. He grew Viacom’s presence across their entertainment brands (MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, VIVA, VH1 & COLORS) into one of the largest thematic channel portfolios’ in Emerging Markets. Bhav has also held senior roles across digital, general management & business development with Manchester United Plc., IMG, & Discovery Communications.

Bhav’s track record as a successful “intrapreneur” naturally led to the creation of Sandbox & Co, a JV set up recently with Astro. Sandbox & Co is a strategic investor of businesses at the intersection of digital, learning & media.

Additionally Bhav was nominated to become a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum in 2009. He also sits on the board for Hopster, Forthnet Nova & Antenna Group.

Marco Sodi

Marco Sodi is a member of the Advisory Board of Antenna Group. He has over 30 years experience as a successful investor in the TMT sector and has led over 120 transactions across Europe, North America and Latin America.

Mr. Sodi left Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS) in March 2010 after 23 successful years as both a General Partner and Investment Committee Member. He has previously invested in and served on the boards of TMT companies including CSC Media Group, Clarion, Granada Learning, Pepcom, Canalmail, Berliner Verlag, Hanley Wood, Infobase Publishing, Hemscott, YBR, De Telefoongids, Fonecta, Mediatel, Centaur Communications, and Yellow Book USA. In 2006 Mr. Sodi received numerous awards for best private equity deal of the year for Yellow Brick Road, the Yellow Pages rollup sold to Macquarie for €1.75bn.

Currently, Mr. Sodi is an investor in ITE Group PLC, a FTSE 250 company of which he is also Non Executive Chairman. He serves on the boards of Data Centrum Communications, Stella Capital Advisors LLP and iEurope Capital. Prior to joining VSS in 1988, Mr. Sodi was shareholder and manager in Computerworks, a start up in the PC industry and worked for four years at Exxon Enterprises, the venture capital arm of ExxonMobil. Mr. Sodi received a BS from Cornell University.

Management

Pete Smith – Managing Director

Pete Smith is Antenna Group’s Managing Director.

Mr Smith has a record of significant achievement in the international media business and a strong background in sales, marketing and acquisitions. Previously as President of Cineflix Studios, he spearheaded their scripted business in the UK, US and Canada, with a focus on returning drama series.

Mr. Smith was President of NBC Universal International between 2007 and 2011 ($4 billion business based in London with operations in 30 countries) where he was responsible for film and TV distribution, TV production and Channels. He delivered 44% growth over three years and completed acquisitions in Japan, South East Asia and Eastern Europe and drove an increase in TV channels from 12 to 70 and established a $500 million Pay TV channels business. Production successes included ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘Whitechapel’ and ‘Law & Order UK’.

Whilst President of International Home Entertainment at Universal Pictures International (1999-2006) he drove revenue growth from $200 million to $1.2 billion, a CAGR of some 40%, double the rate of market growth, and established customer focused operating teams in 27 countries.

Eric Hansen

Eric Hansen was appointed as a CEO of Antenna Music in April 2012. Prior to this Mr. Hansen worked at ProsiebenSat. 1 Media AG and SBS Broadcasting as a Senior Vice President for almost a decade responsible for Radio stations and Music TV stations in 7 countries including Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. He started his professional career at Berlingske Tidende, major national daily in Denmark. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Copenhagen Business School.

Jochem de Koning

Jochem de Koning is the International Tax Director of Antenna Group. Before joining the Group in early 2012 he was a tax partner at CMS Derks Star Busmann in Amsterdam, where he also served on the management board and the international CMS executive committee. Prior to CMS he worked for 10 years as an international tax lawyer at Loyens & Loeff in Amsterdam and Geneva. He holds a master's degree in tax law from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

Costas Xydias

Costas Xydias is the Group General Counsel. He has a law degree from the University of Athens and postgraduate studies in Maritime Law in England.
